About Reuven M. Lerner

Reuven created one of the first 100 Web sites in the world just after graduating from MIT’s computer science department. He opened Lerner Consulting in 1995, and has been offering training services since 1996. Today, Reuven spends most of his time training programmers at companies such as Apple, ARM, Autodesk, Cisco, Citibank, Intel, HP, PayPal, VMWare, and Western Digital in Python, data science, and Git.. Reuven teaches in Israel, China, Europe, and North America, as well as online.

Reuven is also the CTO of Rent Like a Champion, an event-based home-rental company based in Chicago, Illinois.

Reuven’s monthly column in Linux Journal has appeared monthly since early 1996. His has written two ebooks: “Practice Makes Python,” aimed at Python programmers who want to improve their fluency in the language, and “Practice Makes Regexp,” with 50 exercises to improve one’s fluency with regular expressions. His earlier book, Core Perl, was published by Prentice-Hall in 2000.

Reuven’s latest product, Weekly Python Exercise, helps Python developers to sharpen their skills.

Reuven’s free “Better developers” newsletter, about Python, Git, databases, and technology trends, is published every Monday.  He also publishes Trainer Weekly, for people offering corporate training.

Since 2013, Reuven has been a panelist on the Freelancers’ Show podcast, a weekly discussion of issues faced by consultants and freelancers.

Reuven has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, and a PhD from the Learning Sciences program at Northwestern University, where he created and studied collaborative online learning communities as the developer of the Modeling Commons, still in use by thousands of modelers every week.

Reuven lives in Modi’in, Israel with his wife and three children.
