About Reuven M. Lerner

reuven-headshotReuven created one of the first 100 Web sites in the world just after graduating from MIT’s computer science department. He opened Lerner Consulting in 1995, and has been offering training services since 1996. Today, Reuven spends most of his time training programmers at companies such as Apple, Autodesk, Cisco, EMC, HP, SANDisk, and VMWare in four open-source technologies: Python, PostgreSQL, Git, and Ruby. Reuven teaches in Israel, China, Europe, and North America, as well as online.

Reuven is the CTO of CauseMatch, a company that helps non-profits to improve their ability to raise funds via online campaigns.

Since 2010, Reuven has served as the lead developer, and then CTO, of Rent Like a Champion, an event-based home-rental company based in Chicago, Illinois.

Reuven’s monthly column in Linux Journal has appeared monthly since early 1996. His latest ebook, “Practice Makes Python,” is aimed at Python programmers who want to improve their fluency in the language. His earlier book, Core Perl, was published by Prentice-Hall in 2000.

Reuven’s latest product, Weekly Python Exercise, helps Python developers to sharpen their skills.

Reuven’s free “Better developers” newsletter, about Python, Git, databases, and technology trends, is published every Monday.

Reuven publishes Mandarin Weekly, a weekly collection of links and resources for anyone learning Chinese. He also publishes Trainer Weekly, for people offering corporate training.

Reuven has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, and a PhD from the Learning Sciences program at Northwestern University, where he created and studied collaborative online learning communities as the developer of the Modeling Commons.

Reuven lives in Modi’in, Israel with his wife and three children.
